TOUR DESCRIPTION

DAY 1: DUBLIN

Overnight stay in Dublin

Flight with well-known scheduled airline service to Dublin (flight time about 2 hours).

Meeting in the terminal with your qualified road captain, who accompanies you during the whole trip. Arrival in Dublin – takeover of your motorcycles, joint dinner.

DAY 2: BELFAST

Day`s stage: 210 km – overnight stay: Belfast

In the morning, we ride from Dublin to Belfast. On our way, we ride along the coast. The Ireland coast is one of the most beautiful landscape attractions. The coast of the Green Island is more than 5,000 km long. Idyllic bays, long sandy beaches and steep riffs make the coast of Ireland become a worthwhile travel target. We ride to the Ross Monument, which is dedicated to Major General Robert Ross, who burned down the White House. We ride through the Mourne Mountains, an impressive row of mighty granite peaks and cross an area which is protected due to its extraordinary natural beauty. We have a detour to Newcastle, a seaside resort on the Irish sea. We go on riding and visit the Dundrum Castle, a castle ruin, which should guard the access to the peninsular Lecale from the west to the south. In the early afternoon, we reach Belfast. Here is a Harley Davidson store.

DAY 3: BELFAST

Overnight stay: Belfast

Day at leisure.

Belfast, once the city where Titanic started its way to America. Here we can even visit the original building site of the Titanic. More highlights in Belfast are the City Hall, a splendid building in Renaissance style, or St. Anne`s Cathedral with its 140-m high spire, the Spire of Hope, built in 1899. Belfast Castle is situated at the foot of the Cavehill, about 6.5 km away from downtown Belfast. In the center of the city is the Grand Opera House and vis-à-vis the most famous pub, Crown Liquor Saloon, which is the oldest pub in Northern Ireland at the same time.

DAY 4: DERRY-LONDONDERRY

Day`s stage: 240 km – overnight stay in Derry – Londonderry

Today we ride along the legendary Causeway Coastal Route. It runs along the breathtaking coast from Belfast to Derry Londonderry and is a paradise with countless sandy beaches, fishing villages, green valleys and cliff paths lined with fuchsias.

Our first stop is at cliff path “The Gobbins”. It nestles closely to the basalt cliffs during the last 100 years. This path means spectacular views and a fascinating animal world. One of the highlights is Tubular Bridge, a pipe bridge, situated 10 m over the sea (can be booked optionally: 30 minutes guided tour). Perhaps we see puffins!

We pass Glenarm Castle, a fairy-tale castle. We go on riding to the Caves of Cushendun. They have been created since more than 400 years by extreme weather conditions. The caves served in the film “Game of Thrones” as scenery for the Stormlands.

Carrick-a-RedeWe arrive at Carrick-a-Rede. The Carrick-a-Rede hanging bridge has connected the tiny island Carrick with the mainland of County of Antrim in the past 350 years. We take a deep breath and dare to do the first step on the wooden planks floating 30 meters over the wild sea. Our price: some of the best views to Causeway Coastal Route. Nevertheless, we dare to look down, because we may discover mysterious caves and caverns. An unforgettable experience…

We pass Ballintoy Harbour and ride on to Giant´s Causeway. Without a doubt, Giant`s Causeway, the dam of the giant, is a real freak of nature, which has become one of the most famous attractions in Northern Ireland due to its hexagonal basalt columns.

After that we arrive at Dunluce Castle, one of the most dramatic places in the world. The ruins of this castle are enthroned about 30 m over the wild ocean. “The Dark Hedges” on the way have become famous in “Games of Thrones” – a breathtaking avenue.
Our destination: the city of Derry-Londonderry, a perfect mixture between historical fascination and cultural wonders, surrounded by an accessible city wall (1.6 km long and 6 m high).

DAY 5: DONEGAL

Day`s stage: 150 km – overnight stay Donegal

We cross Letterkenny and ride to Glenveagh National Park. Glenveagh National Park is traversed by a picturesque valley. There you find impressive oak and birch forests. The forests are habitat for foxes, stoats and badgers and many bird species live there. We visit Glenveagh Castle and finally stay overnight at Donegal. Donegal cannot really be called a city, because only 2,200 people live there. This place is very idyllic, has a monastery ruin, which is very popular with tourists, and a castle. The city is a typical Irish trading city. Boat excursions are offered starting from the harbor through the bay. Off course, Ireland does not only exist of castles or green landscape, it is also characterized by its traditional pubs with Irish Folk music and Guinness. We are right here, because “The Real Thing” pub has been nominated the best Irish Pub this year.

DAY 6: GALWAY

Day`s stage: 200 km – overnight stay in Galway

We cross Ballyshannon. The small town is situated in the south of Donegal Town between Bundoran and Belleek. The view to the estuary of Erne River, surrounding mountains, forests and lakes is picturesque. We cross Sligo. In and around Sligo culture, sandy beaches, mountains, lakes, castles and prehistorical buildings are situated closely together. Too, the sea harbor of Sligo is worthwhile visiting. Galway is a fascinating county. County Galway is the fifth largest city of Ireland. Celtic tradition and partly even the Irish language “Gaeilge” can be encountered here.

DAY 7: GALWAY

Day`s stage: 300 km – overnight stay in Galway

Kylemoore AbbeyDay at leisure. We offer a day trip on the Wild Atlantic Way. The Wild Atlantic Way runs at the outermost edge of Europe along the western coast of Ireland. From Galway, we always ride directly along the coast over Clifden, Westport and Ballinrobe back to Galway. South of Clifden the Wild Atlantic Way runs along the unique moor landscape of Derrigimlagh.

Today we are going to take many photos and stop several times, carrying back home many unique impressions. A detour to Kylemoore Abbey is planned. Kylemore Abbey is a picturesque castle situated on the shore of Lough Poolacappul. The historical building is the home of the oldest Irish abbey of the Benedictine order.

DAY 8: TRALEE

Day´s stage: 260 km – overnight stay in Tralee

Cliffs of MoherToday we ride to the Cliffs of Moher first, the most famous steep cliffs in Ireland. Not for nothing, photos of these cliffs with watchtower O`Brien`s Tower belong are amongst the most popular Irish postcard images. The fascinating cliffs are very famous for their great view. When the weather is fine, tourists can even see Aran Islands and Galway Bay. We cross Limerick on the shore of the mighty Shannon River. This city is very charming due to its wonderful Gregorian architecture. On King Island the best-preserved castle of Ireland, King John`s Castle, is situated. Today we stay overnight in Tralee, the cultural and historical center of the region. Railway, Aquadome and more than 70 pubs: as capital of the County Kerry in the southwest of Ireland, Tralee offers a great variety of cultural events and architectural attractions.

DAY 9: CORK

Day`s stage: 312 km – overnight stay in Cork

We ride along the Ring of Kerry, probably the most famous visitor attraction of Ireland. The Ring of Kerry is a scenic road, which surrounds the Iveragh peninsular in the southwest of Ireland on a length of approx. 170 km. The circular road runs largely along the coast through a spectacular, and even mystical landscape. The first destination today is Ross Castle, a bastion in the Killarney National Park. We cross the Killarney National Park at Torc waterfalls. During the ride, we may stop at viewing point Ladies View, from where we can see the lake area of Killarney. We ride over Moll´s Gap pass, where we have a wonderful view to 3 valleys. We ride on to Cork. There is no doubt: The city of Cork offers a lot of entertaining things, such as the English Market, the heart of the living gourmet scene of the country. In this place, the famous photo of Queen Elizabeth was shot. It shows her joking with a fish dealer. Or the tower of St. Anne`s Cathedral.

DAY 10: DUBLIN

Day`s stage: 330 km – overnight stay in Dublin

Rock of CashelFirst, we ride to a masterpiece on a rock – Rock of Cashel. The Rock of Cashel is one of the historically most significant places in Ireland and many legends exist about it. Its origin is mysterious. The devil is said to have bitten a piece of rock out of the Slieve Bloom Mountains, when he saw St. Patrick building a church (Devil´s bit). He spat out the piece of rock exactly at that place, where Rock of Cashel is situated today. We cross Kilkenny and ride along the coast back to Dublin. We have a break at the Black Castle in Wicklow.

DAY 11: DUBLIN

Overnight stay: Dublin

In the morning, we load our motorcycles on the truck (eventually already the day before). The rest of the day is at leisure. Visiting Dublin means unforgettable impressions. This Viking city is modern and historical at the same time, exciting and relaxing – however, always inspiring.
